Thanksgiving can be an awkward day full of awkward questions like, “Why are you still single?” or “When are you going to get a real job?”. One family member might make a funny comment about the intelligence of Sarah Palin which will offend another (conservative) family member causing a heated argument which results in the conservative family member storming off and being removed from the will…
Um, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Thanksgiving cocktails! Below are some great cocktails to lighten the mood and make talking to your weird family more bearable.
Hot Buttered Rum
This recipe is courtesy of Art of Manliness. Here is what you will need:
- 4oz of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt
Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Make sure the butter is room temperature. Roll the mixture into a log using wax paper and refrigerate. When you’re ready to drink, mix 2 tablespoons of the batter with hot cider in a mug, using a cinnamon stick to stir. Add rum… as much as you like.
